30 Day Shred — Shuryo! (Finish)
I started doing the 30 Day Shred workout by Jillian Michaels on January 1, 2013. It seemed fitting don’t you think, what with my resolution to getting fit. For those unfamiliar with 30 Day Shred (30 DS) — it is a home workout video created by Jillian Michaels (one of the trainers from the Biggest Loser US). It consists of three levels each to be done in 10 days. On each level there are two trainers doing the moves: Natalie who’s doing the hardcore versions and Anita who’s doing the modified or beginner versions.

At first I made a promise to myself to do the workout daily and finish it before the month ends. But due to real life issues like a painful left knee (advised to rest by the doctor for a week) and good old laziness I didn’t finish it in time, taking a few breaks in between.
I was doing the modified versions on quite a lot of the moves in all levels particularly the push up workouts and the jumping lunges. The rest I was able to execute the hardcore versions with minimal issues and I used a pair of 2 lbs. weights. Now that I have finished you might be wondering if there was any improvement and the answer is a big YES!
Starting Weight: 132 lbs.
Current Weight: 127 lbs.
Of course I didn’t just do the 30 DS alone, I still had my PRT sessions at the gym which was about once or twice a week. Also I started the C25K program third week of January and did yoga once at the shala and almost every day at home before going to sleep.
You might wanna know if I controlled my eating and I’d say yes and no to that I think. I eat within my daily caloric limit but I have days where I don’t count calories and just eat whatever comes to mind. LOL I’ve had my fill of all sorts of cakes last January during lunch and dinner with friends and I’ve ordered chocolate espresso cheesecake from a friend. Then there’s the Nian Gao (Chinese New Year cake) which I happen to be a huge fan of.
I guess the only thing I have been pretty diligent with is doing my workouts at the gym or at home. Despite all the binge eating I have been doing I still manage to lose weight and I will continue to do so. Next workout video I plan to do is Ripped in 30 by Jillian Michaels and yes I am a huge fan of hers.
